Eight Nonprofit Networking Events to Check Out This Summer

It’s summer: Time to take a break from your chock-a-block schedule and meet some other nonprofiteers! Take advantage of your summer Fridays or – heck – any other day of the week to get out of the office and make some new connections. Here are our favorite nonprofit networking opportunities coming up over the next few weeks.

1. June 22: Social Change Branding in the Digital Age
Presented by and at the Foundation Center (32 Old Slip, Manhattan)

This webinar led by Matthew Schwartz of Constructive will explore how social change brands are experienced today and how to bridge the gaps between strategic planning, online engagement, and real-world impact.


2. June 23: Fundraising Day NY
Presented by the Association of Fundraising Professionals
At the New York Marriott Marquis (1535 Broadway, Manhattan)

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) represents nearly 31,000 members in more than 200 chapters throughout the world, working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education, and certification programs. The NY Fundraising Day will include sessions on Corporate & Foundation Giving, Direct Response, Major Gifts, Basic Fundraising, Advanced Fundraising, and more.


3. June 24: Interested in Working in Philanthropy?
Presented by and at Philanthropy New York (1500 Broadway, 7th Floor, Manhattan)

These informational interviews will allow you to explore career paths in the philanthropic sector as part of the “Interested in Working at a Foundation series.


4. June 27: “OFF THE CLOCK” Mixer for Nonprofit Professionals
Presented by National Association of NonProfit Professionals (NANPP)
At EVEN Hotels (46 Nevins Street, Brooklyn)
$10 – $12 suggested donation

NANPP conducts “socially serene” meet ups every month. Grab a glass of wine, a beer, free food, and connect with other nonprofit professionals.


5. June 28 – July 19: Support Center Workshops
At the Foundation Center (32 Old Slip, Manhattan) and the Center for Non-Profits (1703 Kneeley Boulevard, Wanamassa, NJ)

The Support Center offers a wealth of professional development sessions, with a particular focus on leadership, public speaking, and strategic planning. Explore 10+ sessions like “Become A Fearless Public Speaker” and “Take Charge of Your Time!”

6. July 14: Nonprofit Picture Day
Presented/Hosted by Digitas (355 Park Avenue South, Manhattan)

7. August 3 – 24: Online Storytelling for Nonprofits: The Four-Week Course
Presented by the Foundation Center
At the Foundation Center (32 Old Slip, Manhattan)

This four-week course with Boris Kievsky of dotOrgStrategy will focus on storytelling techniques for a variety of online channels.

8. August 1: Health Coverage Decision-Making for Nonprofits in a Critical Year of Change
Presented by the NY Council of Nonprofits, Inc.
At Philanthropy New York (1500 Broadway, Manhattan)

The first in this three-part roundtable series will focus on health coverage for nonprofit employees in a critical year of change. The NY Council of Nonprofits is  3,000 members strong. It’s a great place to meet other likeminded professionals.
