David Clarke

Communications Strategist

With a background in education, journalism, and the performing arts, David specializes in media relations for cultural and social justice organizations. He was raised in Texas, but always had his eye on living and working in Greater New York City. He graduated with a M.A. in English from Sam Houston State University in 2009, where he also worked as an adjunct professor teaching Freshman Composition I and II. He left higher education to teach social skills to children, grades 6 through 8, on the Autism Spectrum in Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District’s F.O.C.U.S. program.

While working in public education, David began reviewing Houston area performing arts for BroadwayWorld.com. His writing for the site caught the attention of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) and opened the door for his transition to New York City. He joined LCPA in June 2014 and worked for their public relations office in a seasonal position and ultimately as Publicity Assistant.

David has written for the Houston Press, still contributes to BroadwayWorld, writes for Out Magazine, and has been commissioned to write features for Playbill. He is also a proud member of the Gotham Knights Rugby Football Club, New York City’s premier gay/inclusive rugby team. The team’s mission of inclusion serves to increase diversity within the sport of rugby while refuting negative stereotypes of the LGBTQ athletic community.
